Belle
The Young Calf
Rescued from the Well on a brim-stone chariot. Taken by the Lion — and returned, vegan and alive, deeper in the forest.
A high pitched voice cried out from the abandoned shack's well, "Help me, please! I'm chained to a peg, down here in HELL!" Odie turned to the potato shack, and remembered what Ohm said… But he called out instead, "Have you tried yanking your leg?" "It's broken…" she cried, and this time, Odie thought before he replied… "You're leg or the peg?" to which she then begged, "Is there someone else I could talk to instead?"
The Matriarch Sally in her supernal abode, watched her daughter cry out from the infernal Unknown… "Ahhh!" she cried, "they're burning us alive!" echoed through the worlds above, below, and throughout time.
Odie looked at Ohm, and shrugged. "What do you think we should do?" Odie turned to the Prophecy, and his understanding was renewed… "Time is unstoppable, to the apathetic perceiver. What do you need me to tell you, to go down the hole, and retrieve her?"
"I like that." Odie spoke, as he unknotted the well's rope. "That's THE SPIRIT!" chimed in Ohm, stuffing Odie's nonexistent ear lobe. He dropped down the rope, and a hand grabbed the lariat! It transformed into a lasso, which hitched onto a brim stone chariot…
Sweat dripped wet down the loaded potato's neck, A fire ignited in his soul, but it didn't change the fact that butter fingers can't hold. He stroked the rope until his fingers dried, they burned and burned, but the rope did rise! Eyes in the stone of the well stared as the youthful calf rose, The words "be thankful" echoed, grumbling out from down the hole.
"What did I do to deserve this…" she began mooing, tears welling in her eyes, Odie embraced the calf, reminding her, "Now, now… everything's alright…" The calf bucked a leg, and mashed it into the potato. He flew into a wall, exclaiming, "ay, yo…"
"Please… Help us… No more…" they all heard, from deep down the hole. Ohm peered into the Unknown, then looked up and said, "Woah…" Thousands of critters, of every shape and size, tried crawling up the chariot, with many thousands of eyes… Odie waddled over, and looked down the hole to see if there's anything he could do, but when he saw was an overgrown millipede, the potato enthused…
"Oh hell no…" Odie spoke, as he snatched O from the air. He sliced the rope with the Prophecy, "NOT TODAY!" he declared.
"What's down there…?" Odie asked, to the new addition to their crew, To which the calf replied… "I don't know… And I don't know you!" The calf began limping, wincing as she walked. "I don't understand…" whispered Odie, but she didn't want to talk.
Odie looked at Ohm, and Ohm looked at Odie. "She's probably just hungry… or lonely… or both. That place looked unholy." "Leave me alone!" She cried, aimlessly wandering outside. "…Mooom?" she whimpered, but she was up in the sky.
"Hold up… What do cows eat?" Odie went on to ask, "As far as I know, just wheat, corn, oats, grass…" Wait a minute thought Odie, I'm kind of like corn… Why didn't she didn't eat me… he wondered, unsure.
Odie watched her as she walked, as she limped into the horizon, He saw her dreaming of her doom, when before her came a lion. Belle, the young cow, was taken hold in the Lion's snout, who departed long before Odie could even open his mouth.
"She's gone…" Odie gasped, with his eyes in disarray, when Ohm whispered to him, "you did everything you could… it's okay…"
Odie was sincerely grateful. This positive mental attitude was inescapable. As Odie thanked the Prophecy O, the once ungrateful cow limped towards the potato.
"I'm sorry about before. I've never known kindness like that before… I thought you'd hold saving me over my head, but not after what this ghost said…"
